Halkidiki (or Chalkidiki) lies in the southeastern portion of Greek Macedonia. It consists of a large peninsula in the northwestern Aegean Sea. It is only an hour's drive from the airport and city of Thessaloniki. Flights from the UK take about 3 hours.
Halkidiki has superb clean, white sandy beaches. it is an ideal place for diving and other watersports, such as windsurfing and snorkelling are also available.
There are picturesque towns to vist or boat trips to see the famous Mt Athos Monastry. The area is known for wine production, so there are many vineyards to visit to buy or sample local wine. Local olive oil and honey are also available at markets and gift shops.
